Exotic Eye.
I took a trip last week to Southern California, and visited an arboretum.  My dad told me that peacocks roamed the grounds and I was excited to get some pictures.  And sure enough, as we walked in, a peacock greeted us.  Peacocks are such graceful and beautiful birds and I was inspired to create a peacock eye.  A few weeks ago I bought some fun purple and blue eyelashes, and I thought they would be perfect for the look. After I applied the eyelashes, I blended gold, purple, and blue eyeshadow across the eye, starting from the inner eye and working out.  To create a feathery look, I took some liquid eyeliner and traced my whole eyelid and then added some lines, made to look like the feathers of a peacock.  It took some time, but I had a lot of fun transforming my eyes into a peacock inspired look.

So much fun to create.

Hello Summer!
My sister finished her junior year of college last week so we celebrated by going to a pottery studio.  We went to paint, but found out that the studio also does glass fusing.  My sister and mom decided to try it out and it turned out so cool! I'm definitly going to try it next time.  Anyway, we had a lot of fun, and it was a great way to start the summer.  Here are some pictures of our work.

Sister love.
My sister is visiting at our house for a few days, so we took out the pastels and glitter pens and had a lot of fun.  We have been working at night, and sitting with her and creating with her is one of the best feelings.  The first two pictures are mine.  One is just a doodle I did in my new artist's journal, and the other is me going crazy with the pastels.  Pastels are one of my favorite mediums, and I got my sister hooked.  The next two pictures are her work. She practiced different pastel techniques and I thought they turned out great.  Looking forward to more art tonight.

 Yay for glitter pens!

 So therapeutic.

What does love mean to you?

Not all who wander are lost.

So much fun.

Simplicity.
Flowers are beautiful and so much fun to photograph.  I think we all can agree on that.  But today as I was walking through the park with my mom, I tried to look for beauty in a simpler form. And I found leaves. When many people think of leaves they think of just a plain green plant. Nothing too exciting.  But if you look a little closer, you can see the beauty and grace that is a leaf.  Here are some shots from today.

"Posh" Eye
I bought a new book, full of great eye makeup ideas, and I was so excited to look through it.  There were so many eyes to choose from, and I love them all! I enjoy experimenting with makeup so this has been a lot of fun.  I was wearing a brown and gold dress yesterday and decided to try one of the looks named the Posh Eye.  For this eye you will need an eyeshadow brush, eyeliner brush, mascara, and three eyeshadow colors: brown, green, and gold.  Start by brushing the green shadow on your whole eye lid, and stop a little before you reach the crease.  Then brush a chocolate brown shadow in your crease.  Do not go higher to the brow bone! Stick to just the crease.  Using the brush, gently blend the green and brown.  Next, take the eyeliner brush and line beneath your eye and then add a little to the inner corner of your eye.  Finish with mascara, and there you go! A beautiful look for day or night.

Try your best to blend the colors.

The gold adds a pretty sparkle.

Let's paint the town red.
I explored midtown with my mom today and was stunned by the beautiful street art.  The colors and creativity made for a really fun photoshoot.  I was even lucky enough to find an artist at work!  He was so nice, and so incredibly talented. It really made my day. I took many photos, but I can't post them all so I picked a few of my favorites.  I also took one of the artist at work.

 Take every detour.

 So lucky to meet him.

 Dream on.

Say cheese!
I decided to try to take a few photos of my dog, Lucy.  My sister and I often joke that although Lucy is adorable in person she is probably the least photogenic dog.  Ever.  I took a few shots with flash and they were horrible! I was about to put my camera away, but then decided to try a "no flash" setting and was able to get a few good pictures. The only thing that kept her still in the photos was my mother behind me, tempting her with cheese.  You gotta do what you gotta do for a good picture, I guess.  Anyways, she is full of love and the light in my life. I hope you can see that from my photos.

Those big brown eyes.

Can't keep her eyes off the cheddar.

Always ready to play.

Abandoned.
These are some shots of an old hotel I found while taking a drive.  I was drawn to the deconstructed look of the building and the beautiful stone and brick work. And I enjoyed the challenge of having to work with the chain link fence that surrounded it.  It's always fun finding beauty in strange places.

This is just the beginning.
So I got a new camera and went straight to the park a day later.  I played around with some of the settings and had a lot of fun.  Below are a few of my favorite shots.

Oh how I love the springtime!

Vivid colors and the sweet smell of blossoms.

  Total serenity.
